Have you ever wanted to trout fish but don't know where to begin? Do you want gain to confidence fishing Missouri's trout parks? If so, you’re in luck! Join Missouri State Parks and the Missouri Department of Conservation as we teach the basics of trout fishing using both spin and fly-fishing tackle at Roaring River State Park on March 15, 2025.
This hands-on class will teach participants about regulations, tackle and fishing zones and will offer one-on-one fishing instruction. This program is free and open to the public, but the class is limited to 20 participants, and registration is required. Participants must be at least 8 years of age, and those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment will be provided.
This program will take place in Zone 1. Daily tags and fishing licenses will be waived for participants during the class. Anyone wanting to fish on their own after 3 p.m. must purchase a daily tag and Missouri fishing license from the park store.

10-10:15 a.m. | Break; split into two groups for next two sessions |
10:15-11 a.m. | Fly casting and line control (1/2 group parking lot) |
11:15 a.m. to noon | Spin casting, knots, tackle rigging (1/2 group lower level CCC Lodge) |
Noon | Lunch on your own |
1-3 p.m. | Fishing with mentors |
