Interpretive Programs

at Washington State Park

Regularly scheduled programs are offered Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend at Washington State Park. These programs present a variety of topics and include how to earn your Missouri State Parks and State Historic Sites Explorer Program patch. Regularly scheduled interpretive programming usually occurs occurs on Saturdays, with an afternoon petroglyph tour and an evening program. Programs last approximately one hour. Most programs are open to the public free of charge and do not require reservations (unless otherwise noted). Parents should accompany children to programs.

Field Trips and Group Programs

Washington State Park provides many natural, cultural, and historical learning opportunities for students and groups of any age. The park's interpretive staff will work with your organization coordinators to present a program designed to meet your goals. Reservations are recommended at least three weeks in advance, but may be available on shorter notice dependent upon scheduling. Washington State Park also provides a wide variety of facilities for field trips and group activities. The park has two rental shelter facilities, a special-use camping area, and a concessionaire-operated swimming pool (temporarily closed) and watercraft rental.

Special Events

Special events are held periodically during the year throughout the park. Watch our homepage for updates on special events, such as the annual First Day Hike (in January), Archaeology Day (in September) and Fall Harvest Fest (in October).

All programs and times are subject to change due to weather conditions and staff availability. For more information on park programming, check out the park’s upcoming events. Program schedules are posted weekly throughout the park. Off-season programming is available upon request.
