One accessible parking space is offered adjacent to a paved pathway leading to the office entrance. In front of the office is a gathering place with benches and an accessible water fountain. Inside, you'll find a spacious lobby with helpful staff to interpret pictures and provide information. An accessible restroom is available. No public phone is provided.

The Birthplace

The main attraction, Harry S Truman's birthplace, is across the road north of the office. A wide pathway leads to the kitchen entrance of the family home. From here, an interpretive program is given. Back in 1880, when the house was constructed, doorways and halls were very narrow. Modifications would compromise the historicity of the structure. The narrowness of the halls may be a barrier to some visitors. For this reason, photo albums are available to flip through.
