Babler's First Day Hike

1/1/2023 | Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park | Wildwood, MO

Join us at the Alta Shelter parking lot for Babler's first hike of the year. We will be hiking Hawthorn Trail across from the Alta Shelter. Hawthorn Trail is approximately 1.25 miles long and is considered moderately difficult. Although the shortest trail at the park, it shows a diversity of geology not found elsewhere in the park. A short distance from the trailhead, before the loop begins, the trail crosses Equestrian Trail. Continuing straight past this intersection, it goes along the northeast side of a narrow ridge and returns on the southwestern side.

Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and to bring a camera. A hiking stick may come in handy. Snacks will be provided at the Alta Shelter. Pets are welcome but must be leashed. Hawthorn Trail is not considered ADA accessible.

For more information or to check the status of the hike, call the park office at 636-458-3813. This event is free and open to all ages.

Registration for this event is required, and a sign-up link will be available here: https://icampmo1.usedirect.com/MSPWeb/Activities/Search.aspx

Hike Time: 10 a.m. - noon
