Canceled: First Day Hike

1/1/2022 | Lewis and Clark State Park | Rushville, MO

This event has been canceled.

Celebrate! Walk or fly into a new year. Come out to Lewis and Clark State Park to spend some time bird watching on the lakeshore and learn about some of the birds that visit this park. Catch a close-up view of the large flocks of snow geese in the scopes that will be provided. We will then go for an easy 1-mile New Year's nature walk that will pique your curiosity. Can you spot the signs of animal activity? Join park naturalist Annie on this casual afternoon stroll along Gosling Lake Trail as we talk about the plants and animals that call this park home.

Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. The lakeshore can be very windy; wearing layers is advised. The trail is flat and has a gravel surface that is easy to navigate. In case of snow, waterproof boots are recommended. Bring along binoculars if you have them. As always, have water and snacks as needed, and sunblock is always a good idea. No pets, please.

This event is free and open to all ages. For more information or to check the status of the hike, call 816-579-5564 or 816-640-5443.

Registration for this event is required, and a sign-up link will be available here: https://icampmo1.usedirect.com/MSPWeb/Activities/Search.aspx.

Hike Time: 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
