Accessible SymbolBirding

Visitors of all abilities can enjoy birding along Mina Sauk Falls Trail. This trail has information and signage, rest areas, mostly manageable surfaces, and many other ADA considerations.

To find additional locations that are accessible, visit Birdability to view their accessible birding trails maps.

Picnic Area

Guests can drive up the mountain to the official highest point in Missouri. As you enter this park, you'll notice a scenic picnic area. Here, two concrete handicap parking spaces are offered with an adjacent concrete pathway. The path turns to packed fine gravel leading to a picnic site containing an extended-end table, pedestal grill and two benches. Nearby, an accessible vault toilet and water fountain are available, also with a handicap parking spot.

Camping Area

Just beyond the vault toilet is the camping area. All sites are primitive with a packed fine-gravel parking space, path to the site and cleared area. Some sites contain an extended-end table. All sites contain a fire ring, a lantern post and a tent area defined by a base of very fine gravel.

Accessible SymbolGlade Overlook

Across from the picnic area is the overlook. A handicap parking spot is available. A shallow wheelchair-accessible ramp provides easy access to a panoramic view over the area’s hills, valleys and a rocky glade. Exhibits highlight some of the special plants and animals that  inhabit these mountains. Another exhibit names some of the mountaintops and describes a bit of the area’s history.

Accessible SymbolHigh Point Trailhead

Following the road past the picnic grounds brings you to the trailhead. Here, you will find paved handicap parking with an adjacent paved pathway leading to an information plaza and on into the woods. Just inside the trees is an accessible vault toilet. Following the picturesque trail through the woods brings you to the summit. This paved trail is approximately 1,030 feet long with resting places spaced along the way and no excessive slopes. The nearest water is in the picnic area.

No telephone is available at this site.
