Activities (may be subject to change):

Archery and Atlatl (Low-Moderate*)

Archery is a time-honored sport that is growing in popularity. It is not only good fun but good exercise – and now you can learn how it’s done. Have you ever heard of throwing with an atlatl? Well, participants are going to get the opportunity to learn and explore the technique behind this historic hunting weapon. This course will cover archery and atlatl safety, ethics, shooting and throwing techniques, and equipment selection. Participants will receive personal instruction and adequate time to practice what they learn.

Needle Felting (Low*)

Needle felting is the art of using special barbed needles to shape wool into sculptures. Not only will you learn some basic needle felting techniques, but you will also get to make your very own nature sculpture to take home.

Kayaking (Moderate-High*)

Learn the basics of flat-water kayaking, including areas such as equipment, entry and exit, strokes, safety, water, and wind. By the end of the class, you’ll feel more comfortable on the water, better understand the safety risks around you, and have more fun! Participants will have time to practice and explore.

Basic Painting (Low*)

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at painting something beautiful with an outdoor theme? If so, this is the session for you. All materials and instruction will be provided. Don't worry, as our instructors will guide the most inexperienced painter through the process.

Fire Starting (Low*)

When people think of camping, they think of the sound of crackling wood and the warmth of sitting next to a fire in the evening. Our instruction on how to create fire will compile the principles needed for creating a spark till you are ready to roast a marshmallow over open flames. This course will utilize simple fire-starting techniques, such as matches and lighters, as well as complex methods like using a bow drill, while giving participants the time they need to be able to start their own fires during their own outings!

Optional Activities:

Group Card Games (Low*)

Have you ever wanted to learn or maybe teach others how to play card games such as poker, pitch, crazy 8's or the like? Join us on Saturday evening for some good old-fashioned friendly competition. Decks of cards and other supplies will be provided, but if you have a game to share, please feel free to bring it along.

*Physical Activity Guide:

Please be advised that Glamp consists of outdoor activities. You will be walking on tread surfaces that, at times, contain roots or embedded rocks and may have elevation changes.

Additionally, you will not have immediate access to your vehicle. You will be required to park away from camp activities, and your vehicle must remain parked there for the duration of the event.

To help participants anticipate each course and know what physical levels to expect, a physical activity rating system has been created. You will find a physical level rating for each course next to the course name in the Activities section of this page.

  • Low: requires minimal physical skill/endurance (example: lecture-based and hands-on activities in a classroom)
  • Moderate: requires moderate physical skill/endurance (example: lecture-based and hands-on activities while standing or taking short walks)
  • High: requires high levels of skill/endurance (example: lecture-based and hands-on activities while standing, hiking, lifting or engaging in full-body movement)
