Guided Spring Migration Bird Walks

Spring migration is here once again! Weston Bend and Lewis and Clark state parks are offering guided bird walks for bird enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels! So dust off those binoculars and join us on the trails.

Below are the dates, locations and topics of the bird walks at Weston Bend State Park. All events begin at 7:30 a.m. and last two hours. These events are free and open to the public. In case of rain, they will be canceled. Participants should wear proper outdoor gear, use sun protection and bring water.

Program Details:

Date: May 7
Location: Bee Creek Shelter

Surrounded by four habitat types, Bee Creek shelter provides some of the best birding in the park. We will talk about bird morphology and explore part of Paved Bicycle Trail and West Ridge Trail.

Date: May 22
Location: overlook parking lot

West Ridge Trail offers beautiful views and great birding opportunities. We will talk about the how and why of bird coloring as we walk out on this natural surface trail.

Date: May 29
Location: Weston Bluffs Trail parking lot

For this bird walk, we will follow our ears. Birds will be going all out on their songs. We will talk about bird voice as we explore parts of Weston Bluffs, Bear Creek and North Ridge trails.
