Canceled: "Power of the Scour" First Day Hike

1/1/2021 | Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park | Middle Brook, MO

This event has been canceled.

Come celebrate the new year and new beginnings at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park!

The breaking of the reservoir above Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park is one of the most significant events in state park history. Join Park Naturalist Stan Stoneburner to not only see where the reservoir sits today, but also to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery along the way. This First Day Hike will be the perfect opportunity to celebrate new beginnings and to start Missouri's bicentennial year off on the right foot.

The meeting location is the Scour Trailhead parking lot, about one-half mile north of the entrance to Johnson's Shut-Ins on Highway N. Please bring appropriate footwear for moderate rocky and hilly terrain. We will plan on leaving at 10:30 a.m. and returning by noon.

Registration is required, and the hike is limited to 25 participants. Please call 573-546-2450, ext. 1003 to register.

Hike Time: 10:30 a.m. - noon
