12/5/2020 to 12/13/2020 | Deutschheim State Historic Site | Hermann, MO
This event has been canceled.
Celebrate a traditional 19th century German Christmas in historic Hermann from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays during the first two weekends in December at Deutschheim State Historic Site. The free open house will be held at the 1840 Pommer House, which will be decorated with Christmas trees adorned with authentic German ornaments.
Sample traditional German Christmas springerle cookies and learn how the Christmas customs of the German immigrants became American traditions celebrated still today. View some traditional wood carving pieces and other exhibits inside our visitor center.
Depending on the weather, we will have a "Weihnachtsmarkt," or "Christmas market," outside, in front of our visitor center, like a traditional German outdoor Christmas market. Items for sale will include springerle cookie molds and rolling pins, recipe books, imported German pop-up cards, and ornaments for your seasonal gift giving.
Staff will monitor capacity closely in order to prevent overcrowding and may implement a one-way path between the Pommer House, market and visitor center. For advisories due to capacity or winter weather, visit our park and site status map.
The Deutschheim State Historic Site visitor center is located at 101 W. Second St. in Hermann. For more information about the event, call Deutschheim State Historic Site at 573-486-2200.
