Landing After Hours: Archaeology of the Phenix Co. Town: A Rural Backwater of Poverty and Illiteracy

9/3/2025 | Missouri State Museum | Jefferson City, MO

The Phenix Stone and Lime Co., located near Ash Grove, Missouri, produced structural stone and decorative elements used in the Missouri Capitol and many other buildings built in the early 20th century. In this presentation, Missouri State University professors Scott Worman and Liz Sobel will share archaeological findings from the company town where many of the quarry workers lived.
