2/4/2017 | Prairie State Park | Mindenmines, MO
It is still winter, but spring is not that far off. We will explore the prairie while learning about bison. The prairie in winter can be a great place for solitude. Join us on our guided bison hike to see what the prairie has to offer this time of year. Don't forget your cameras!
Be prepared for a 2-mile hike over uneven terrain. Bringing water, snacks, a hat and sunscreen, and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars will be useful in looking at bison as well as other wildlife that we may see. Dress for the weather; the prairie winds can be rather nasty this time of year. Meet at the Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center.
Hike time: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
