Wildflowers and Land Use

8/13/2016 | Prairie State Park | Mindenmines, MO

Wildflowers are gorgeous to look at but also important for our use. Native Americans and pioneers relied on these plants to help them survive as food and medicine. One concept the Native Americans understood was to not make a huge impact on the land on which they lived. Nowadays, we call that Leave No Trace. We will also talk about the importance of this concept today as we take a hike and learn about them. Meet at the Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center. Click here to read the news release.
