4/16/2011 | Washington State Park | De Soto, MO
Washington State Park is known for its magnificent floral display in early spring along the 1,000 Steps hiking trail in the bottomlands. This guided hike will teach you how to identify several of the different species of native wildflowers found in this biologically rich environment. During the walk, park staff will discuss how some of Missouri's most beautiful woodland wildflowers brighten the forests, support native wildlife and help humans in many different ways.
Meet at the lodge. The hike is considered an easy trek; however, wear good walking shoes as muddy and slippery trail conditions may be encountered. Wildflower identification guides are available for purchase at the lodge. Cameras are welcome and encouraged. The program is free and will be canceled in the event of rain.
