Bennett Spring State Park is offering a variety of options for fun art and craft projects on Thursdays during the months of March and April. Volunteer Deanna Stuckey will facilitate these activities between 10 a.m. and noon at the nature center. Participants may come and go as they wish.
Two of the activities to choose from are scrapbook designing and marbling. The scrapbook activity involves using paper lunch sacks or envelopes tied together to a create small memory scrapbook, which can then be decorated with paper and embellishments. Once created, the scrapbook can be used to store memories made at the park.
Marbling is a type of monoprinting that uses Knox gelatin and alcohol inks to create patterns resembling marble. These one-of-a-kind prints can be made into bookmarks, greeting cards or decorative conversation starters. Paper, craft stamps and other materials will be provided to make cards.
The scrapbook and marbling activities are best for ages 8 and up, but there will be also be some activities for younger children.
These informal programs are free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. All materials will be provided.
