Kids to Parks Day

5/20/2023 | Thousand Hills State Park | Kirksville, MO

Come out to Thousand Hills State Park to celebrate Kids to Parks Day Saturday, May 20!

Activities will include:

Kids Fishing, 8:30 a.m. to noon

Join the Missouri Department of Conservation for a morning of fishing at the marina! This will be going on at the same time as the 40th annual Buddy Bass Fishing Classic. Kids are eligible to participate in that free event at the same time. For both events, volunteers will be available with gear to help kids fish or fish with them! Fishing is open to all ages for both. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Nature Detective Hike, 11 a.m.

Animals leave behind clues to tell us they have been in the area. Join park staff to explore the many different clues animals leave behind and find out which animals share the park with us. This hike will take place on Oak Trail; the trailhead is located near the playground on Big Loop Trail Road.

All programs are weather permitting. Visit Thousand Hills' Facebook page for event updates and park information.

This event is being held in conjunction with the National Park Trust's Kids to Parks Day. For more information about Kids to Parks Day and to see a complete list of associated events at Missouri State Parks, click here.
