Purchase souvenirs, convenience items, ice and firewood at the park store inside Thunderbird Lodge. Lodging check-in and watercraft rental are handled at Thunderbird Lodge. Thunderbird Lodge operates during the on-season (April through October), with limited hours in the off-season (November through March). 

The store, cabins, swimming pool (temporarily closed) and watercraft rentals are operated by the park concession, BA Services Inc. Reservations and questions regarding concession operations can be made by contacting concession staff at 636-586-2995 or visiting their website.

On the following days (actual or observed), staff will not be available and park buildings will be closed: Thanksgiving Day; Nov. 29, 2024; Christmas Eve; Christmas Day; New Year’s Eve; New Year’s Day; Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Lincoln’s Birthday; and Presidents Day. 

Park Grounds:

  • 7 a.m. to sunset, year-round.
  • November through March
    The roads to Shelter #1/CCC Ridge, the swimming pool, cabins and the Big River Day-Use Area (including Shelter #2/Big River Day-Use Area Shelter) are closed to vehicles. They are open to foot traffic.
