1/1/2024 | Mastodon State Historic Site | Imperial, MO
Join us on Spring Branch Trail for Mastodon State Historic Site's first hike of the year! Start a new tradition with your friends and family as you get some healthy exercise and enjoy the great outdoors.
This hike will start at the trailhead in the picnic area, located at 1800 Seckman Road in Imperial. It will take participants through a creek bottomland and into a young woodland area. Along the way, the interpreter will provide information about the recent and ancient history of the area and will discuss changes that forest organisms undergo during winter.
Spring Branch Trail is a flat 0.8-mile loop on a packed gravel surface. It is considered accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. The duration of the hike will depend on group pace, but will likely be about 30 minutes. Participants should bring water and wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. The hike is free and suitable for all ages, but is limited to 30 participants.
