Canceled: Heritage Coffee

9/17/2022 | Felix Vallé House State Historic Site | Ste. Genevieve, MO

This event has been canceled.

From iconic moments in cinema such as Audrey Hepburn strolling along Fifth Avenue holding a cup of coffee to unforgettable jingles like “The best part of waking up …,” coffee can trace its origins back through history in a tangled story of intrigue, thievery and rivalry like few other beverages can. The earliest credible indication of coffee consumption dates to the middle of the 15th century in Yemen, then part of Arabia. From there, it spread throughout the world to become a staple of American life. So, how was it that coffee spread around the globe? When did it make its way to Missouri? What made it a favorite beverage at stores and coffee chains? Where are the beans that become such a precious brew actually prepared? Who had access to it in the earliest history of Ste. Genevieve? Join us at Heritage Coffee, the second event in our Heritage Series, on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. to learn the delicious details, scrumptious stories and tasty tidbits of the chronicle of coffee.

Tickets are $20 per person and limited to the first 20 sold. The ticket price includes entry to the Heritage Coffee, which includes historic appetizers, coffees and lessons. Guests will be able to take home an individual gift set of coffee cup, saucer, spoon and coffee sample at the end of the event.

You can purchase a ticket in person by visiting the gift shop at 198 Merchant St., Ste. Genevieve, or over the phone with credit/debit card by calling 573-883-7102. Space is limited, so purchase your tickets soon!
