Great Backyard Bird Count

2/18/2023 to 2/19/2023 | Lewis and Clark State Park | Rushville, MO

What is the Great Backyard Bird Count? This citizen science event is put on each February to collect as much bird data as possible.

“I'm not an ornithologist! How do I participate?" The easiest thing to do is join park staff on a leisurely bird-watching stroll. We will talk about birding basics and all things birds. It may be the middle of winter, but that doesn't stop the birds!

It can get very windy at the park, so be sure to dress for the weather. Also, bring water and wear sturdy, comfortable shoes for walking on a flat gravel-surface trail. Binoculars are not required, but you are encouraged to bring them if you have them, and the park has a few pairs to loan.

This program is free and open to the public. Participants should meet at the park office. In the event of snow or ice, the program may be be canceled.
