This year is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ulysses S. Grant. To celebrate, Battle of Pilot Knob Historic Site will host a traveling exhibit presented by the Missouri Humanities Council highlighting the life and accomplishments of this important American figure, with a special opening reception on Friday, Nov. 11.
Arcadia Valley has a personal connection to Grant: As a colonel, he was stationed in Ironton, Missouri, commanding southeast Missouri when he received his commission to lieutenant general of the Army, a rank last held by George Washington.
