Living History: Meet the Iron Riders

8/29/2022 | Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site | Pilot Knob, MO

The August 2022 Living History event will be on a Monday evening. Noted reenactor and historian Kevin Smith will give a presentation on the Iron Riders, a special group of Black soldiers who rode bicycles 1,900 miles from the far Western territories to St. Louis in the late 1800s. Mr. Smith first got interested in the iron Riders in a history class, and he now reenacts the soldiers and interprets their feats of endurance and perseverance in completing their assignment.

So, join us for an evening of informative and entertaining living history. The historic site will host a reception before the presentation from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by the presentation at 6 p.m.
