Guided Spring Migration Bird Walks

Spring migration is here once again! Weston Bend and Lewis and Clark state parks are offering guided bird walks for bird enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels! So dust off those binoculars and join us on the trails.

Below are the dates, locations and topics of the bird walks at Lewis and Clark State Park. All events begin at 7:30 a.m. and last two hours. These events are free and open to the public. In case of rain, they will be canceled. Participants should wear proper outdoor gear, use sun protection and bring water.

Program Details:

Date: April 24
Location: lakefront parking lot

We will spend time talking about the unique characteristics of waterfowl. Scopes will be set up for participants to get a closeup view of the various birds of the day.

Date: May 15
Location: park office

Walk with us along the easy 1-mile graveled surface of Gosling Lake Trail. We will discuss the how and why of bird colors.

Date: May 28
Location: lakefront parking lot

We will spend half our time taking in and observing bird songs by the lakefront. The other half of our time, we will take a short walk on the campground trail listening for differences in bird calls. Can you pick out any differences?
