First Day Bicentennial Self-Guided Hike

1/1/2021 | Montauk State Park | Salem, MO

Thank you for joining us for this first ever Self-Guided Bicentennial First Day Hike! Use the map provided at the trailhead to track your route and see points of interest along the way. Wear sturdy shoes for this moderately strenuous hike on the 1.5-mile Pine Ridge Trail, which goes to the Montauk Upland Forest Natural Area and along Bluff Spring. Here you will see how prescribed fire is beneficial to natural communities and possibly spot bald eagles flying overhead or an otter swimming in the stream.

Note: This roughly 1.5-mile trail is in the shape of C, and you will need to walk the extra third of a mile along the stream back to the original start point.

Thank you for maintaining social distance of at least 6 feet and wearing a mask when you are unable to social distance.

Hike Time: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
