First Day Hike

1/1/2021 | Current River State Park | Salem, MO

We would like to invite you to do a portion or all of the Current River Challenge for your First Day Hike and/or Float. This year, it will be an all on your own hike and float, with more trails to choose from if this challenge is not for you.

Hike and float maps and stamps can be found at the ranger station at Round Spring, the check station at Echo Bluff State Park and on the billboard by the lower lake at Current River State Park. Remember to stamp your map at each park to get your sticker! The gate at Current River State Park will open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. for boat launch. If you do not have your own watercraft, please contact a local vendor and they will help you.

If you would like a nice 1- or 2-mile hike, check out the Painter Ridge Trail at Echo Bluff State Park or the Centennial Bluff Trail at Current River State Park. If you would like a longer hike, check out the Jones Hollow or Ninebark trails at Current River State Park. Both are about 4 miles long. Please note that the trailhead for Ninebark is located behind the gate. The gate will open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. for this day only.

Feel free to hike earlier if you would like to just get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

For more information, contact Connie Weber at 573-751-1224 or connie.weber@dnr.mo.gov.

Event Time: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
