Canceled: Wild Edibles 200

6/13/2020 | Current River State Park | Salem, MO

This program has been canceled.

I know that I can eat that plant, but I don't know how to process it – can you help? If you have ever asked this question then, join park staff and Kirsten Alvey-Mudd to learn about processing and preserving wild edibles. This is an advanced level class in which students will learn how to process and cook with cattail flour. Participants will also learn how to process and preserve all parts of other "wild" plants.

PLEASE bring a water bottle, wear sturdy shoes, and dress for the weather, as we will be foraging (hiking) to collect the wild edibles that are found on the park, while learning how to harvest responsibly.

Class Schedule: TIMES ARE ESTIMATED, AND ORDER OF EVENTS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
  • 8 a.m. - Meet in the dining room of the lodge
  • 8:30 a.m. - Forage and start prep
  • 11 a.m. - Brunch
  • Noon - Make cattail flour
  • 5 p.m. - EAT supper and clean kitchen

This is a popular class, and space is limited, so registration is required.
