First Day Hike

1/1/2020 | Cuivre River State Park | Troy, MO

Celebrate the beginning of 2020 with a First Day Hike at Cuivre River State Park. Park staff will be leading the hike on Frenchmans Bluff Trail, located on the west side of the park. This trail follows Geode Creek for a short distance before winding up a hill and emerging on top of Frenchman's Bluff. The 120-foot-high bluff, formed in Burlington limestone, offers outstanding vistas of the Cuivre River valley. After continuing along the bluff for approximately half a mile, the trail returns to the picnic shelter.

Portions of the trail are rugged, so extreme care should be taken when on top of the bluff, as the loose gravel can make the footing unsure. Please feel free to bring leashed four-legged friends, water and snacks, and dress accordingly for weather conditions. A limited amount of hot cocoa and coffee will be available prior to the event.

Please call the park visitor center at 636-528-7247 if you plan to attend or if you have any questions.

Registration is not required but is encouraged. Click here to register.

Hike Time: 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. | Meeting Location: Stone Shelter Trailhead
