Preparing for Winter: Eggs, Sawdust and Meat Biscuits - CANCELED

9/14/2019 | First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site | St. Charles, MO

This event has been canceled!

To survive the winter, Missouri’s early settlers had to find creative ways to stretch their fall harvest – from burying eggs in sawdust to making cubes of stew. Join us to learn about the ingenious, the weird and the downright gross ways food was preserved in the 19th century. Visitors will be able to pickle their own vegetables to bring home, while supplies last.
