Art Contest & All About Owls (Live Owls)

10/19/2019 | Bennett Spring State Park | Lebanon, MO

The Sunbonnet Garden Club will hold a Woodsy Owl/Smoky Bear coloring contest at noon in Shelter A. This is a national competition that encourages children to take an active role in caring for the land through recycling, reusing, reducing waste and not littering. Children in first through fifth grades can submit their artwork to be sponsored by the garden club in an official USDA Forest Service poster contest.  Last year’s participant, Addie Nichols, won first place and represented the State of Missouri!  All materials needed to create a poster will be available free of charge on the day of the program.

A live owl program presented by the World Bird Sanctuary will occur directly after at 1 p.m. Learn more about Woodsy and other owls at Shelter A.  For protection of the birds, no pets are allowed. To assist in deterring bird distractions, it will be necessary for all participants to be seated, so be sure to bring a lawn chair.
