6/8/2019 | Bennett Spring State Park | Lebanon, MO
This women's wellness hike will include Forest Therapy and begin at the nature center. We will follow Bridge Trail and discover forest therapy; finding out all the benefits that a simple walk in the woods can do for you. The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries calls it Shinrin-yoku (“forest bathing”). In Norway, it’s called Friluftsliv (“free-air life”).
Ecotherapist and hiking guide Dana Hanson, CLC, who has completed her doctoral studies in clinical psychology, will share information that can make a difference in the reduction of stress, mental fatigue and pain, while boosting happiness, creativity and wellness. Then, participants will implement some of the techniques on a hike in the woods. Even if you enjoy sitting along the stream reading a book and have never hiked, come join us. This is an exclusive event for women of all ages!
Bridge Trail is .70 miles long and is entirely in deciduous forest with a canopy of oak and hickory trees shading the way.
Event time: 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
This event is being held in conjunction with the National Recreation and Park Association's Family Health and Fitness Day initiative. For more information and a complete list of events being held in Missouri state parks and historic sites, click here.
