Batty about Bats!

9/8/2018 | Echo Bluff State Park | Eminence, MO

Batty about Bats is the park’s second annual public mist netting event. We have all seen them flying around at night and heard all the ways that bats are evil. They are not evil and are actually quite cute and they eat mosquitoes!  Fly in and learn about the only true flying mammal and what perils they are facing, everything from habitat loss and contamination to decease.  Learn what we can do to help them recover.

The program will be held at the amphitheater. This isn’t your average park program. You will get a brief introduction into the life of bats and then you will get to rotate through different stations which will include looking through an inferred camera, echolocation monitoring and see a mist net and processing table.  We are going to try to catch some bats and you will get to see how scientists process the captured bats. Wear good shoes for walking and bring a light.
