Bicycling Basics Weekend

Friday
  • 7 p.m. – Bicycling Basics - Campground Amphitheater
    Join Washington State Park staff as they teach some bicycling basics. This program will last approximately one hour.
Saturday
  • 4 p.m. – Petroglyph and Glade Tour – Petroglyph Site
    This guided interpretive walk highlights two of Washington State Park’s unique features. The walk begins with a tour of the ancient Native American rock carvings and then ventures out to the glade, where visitors will learn about life on this unique landscape. This hike will last approximately one hour.
  • 6 p.m. - Naturalist Hour – Campground Amphitheater
    Meet at the campground amphitheater for Naturalist Hour!  Create a fun and festive bicycle craft for the moonlight ramble!  This program will last approximately one hour.
  • 8 p.m. – Bicycle Safety with Missouri State Park Rangers – Thunderbird Lodge
    Join the Missouri State Park Rangers on the front lawn of Thunderbird Lodge as they present all about bicycle safety. Learn about important gear, road rules and how to enjoy a safe and fun bicycle ride. 
  • 8:30 p.m. – Wheels and Watermelon Moonlight Ramble – Big River Day-Use Area and Shelter #2
    After the bicycle safety program, join us for a moonlight ramble!  Bring your bicycle and prepare to ride in the Big River Day-Use Area. Enjoy the ride down to Shelter #2 to enjoy some watermelon, provided by the Friends of Washington State Park!  Then, continue to ride under the moonlight in the breathtaking Big River Valley. The distance from the Thunderbird Lodge to Shelter #2 is approximately 0.25 mile (one way). All bicycle riding will be on the Big River Day-Use Area road only until 10:30 p.m.

  • 9 a.m.– Naturalist Hour – Campground Amphitheater
    Meet at the campground amphitheater for Naturalist Hour!
