Winter Wildflowers

2/10/2018 | Prairie State Park | Mindenmines, MO

Wildflowers are a natural part of the prairie landscape, from the tiniest bloom in early spring to those that fill the tallgrass prairie in summer and fall. Did you ever wonder what happens to wildflowers in winter? Why do so many of the dormant plants remain standing as rugged reminders of last summer’s beauty? Do they serve a purpose? Come learn the answers to these and other questions as we explore the world of wildflower in winter. A hike will be included, so be sure to dress for the weather. This is for the kid at heart in all of us, so bring the whole family.
