9/16/2017 | Cuivre River State Park | Troy, MO
Come out to the park amphitheater for a celebration of our nocturnal pollinators! Moths are like butterflies of the night, and their variety and colors will amaze you. Join us as we welcome experts in the field of all things "mothy," Chrissy McClarren and Andrew Reago. After a short program about moths, they will set up black lights and an ultra-bright mercury vapor light to attract moths. The moths that we count will be added to the official park record, and will be sent in as part of a statewide effort to record moth species. Other fascinating insects show up to our light, such as water beetles, treehoppers, longhorned beetles, and sometimes even butterflies! Bring flashlights, cameras, and a keen sense of awe and wonder.
As always, this event is free and open to the public. If you would like more information on this event, please call the park office at 636-528-7247.
