Midwest BatFest 2016

4/9/2016 to 4/10/2016 | Onondaga Cave State Park | Leasburg, MO

Onondaga Cave State Park and Onondaga Friends Association will host BatFest 2016. This event is coordinated and sponsored by World Bird Sanctuary in conjunction with Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Bat Census and Missouri Department of Transportation. Discounted tours of Onondaga Cave will be provided both days. BatFest visitors will be able to view exhibits on cave gear decontamination, white nose syndrome, cave restoration and Missouri Bat Census, and a live bird display from the World Bird Sanctuary.

On Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., bat biologists will be studying bats through mist netting at Onondaga Cave’s natural entrance. World Bird Sanctuary will also host events at its site on Saturday.

Representatives from Incredible Bats will present live bat shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday. The shows will feature African straw colored fruit bats. While not participating with the shows, the fruit bats will be on display in the visitor center.
