6/22/2013 | First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site | St. Charles, MO
Children of all ages are invited to take a step back in time to the 1820s with the site’s original “Great American Campout.” The west beckoned people with its fertile land, plentiful wildlife and prosperous fur trade, making camping a way of life for frontiersmen and pioneer families. At this Great American Campout, you will see, learn and participate in skills, games, campfire cooking and crafts that would have been found at a camp on the frontier. Period-dressed interpreters will guide you in a full day of great activities, demonstrations and more. This is a free, family-friendly event. Come try your hand at camping in the 1820s.
