Stories 'n Stones including an Archaic Tools Demo/Workshop

1 p.m. – 2 p.m. - In front of Graham Cave

Join experimental archaeologist, Larry Kinsella, and storyteller, Marilyn Kinsella, as they present Stories 'n Stones.  Marilyn tells a story that features tools and weapons like those used by the early inhabitants of Graham Cave. Then, Larry shows how these same tools were made and used. This portion of the program concludes with a story about fire making and a fire-making demo. A question and answer period follows.

 

2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.   Graham Cave picnic shelter

During the demonstration/workshop portion of the program, Larry will demonstrate how to use a stone axe and how to make a replicated Graham Cave point. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at making a hand-drilled fire and at using replicated archaic tools and weapons including the atlatl and spear and the stone axe.

 

The program is free and open to the public. Be sure to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on during the program.
