10/19/2024 | Roaring River State Park | Cassville, MO
The Civilian Conservation Corps, or CCC, built the foundation of Roaring River State Park. From 1933-1939, the men of CCC Company 1713 spent their days at Roaring River building trails, erecting park structures, and learning the tools of the trade. Discover the history of the CCC and their legacy at Roaring River in this pop-up exhibit. The CCC exhibits will be displayed in the basement of the CCC Lodge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event will also feature several activities throughout the day. A walking tour detailing the history of Company 1713 will begin at the CCC Lodge at 9:30 a.m. Participants should bring comfortable shoes and water for this approximately one-hour walk. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inside the basement of the CCC Lodge, visitors can also take part in a CCC scavenger hunt and earn a prize for completing the activity.
All exhibits and activities are free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. For more information, please contact the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center at 417-847-3742 or the park office at 417-847-2539.
