Closure of Mississippi River Campground has been extended through at least Aug. 3. Customers with camping reservations for that campground due to arrive through that time are being contacted to change their stay. Please check back here for updates are they become available.

McAdoo Trail users should be cautious of construction activities at the McAdoo Trail trailhead. Trailhead amenities are being added. The trailhead’s restroom is closed during the construction process.
The boat ramp in Hermitage Campground is temporarily closed due to flooding. All other boat ramps in the park remain open for use.
St. Joe State Park will be closed for a managed deer hunt on Dec. 12-13, 2015. Camping also will be closed the night of Dec. 11. Camping for participants in the managed deer hunt will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis at the park.

Parking at the Pike Run Trailhead will be limited through at least late June while a parking lot improvement project gets underway. The trails will remain open during this time.
Portions of White River Valley Trail will be closed during the dates below to allow for hunting seasons on Corps of Engineers property.

Guests should be aware of large construction equipment and/or large trucks traveling through the park and within the park's boundaries due to a construction project along SE 150th Road and along portions of the McAdoo Trail. The Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline Company is replacing the existing pipeline that stretches through the southern half of the park.
While pets are allowed in most outdoor areas of the park, they are not allowed on the trail to the shut-Ins. When in allowed areas, pets and their owners must comply with standard rules.
Food and disposable containers are not allowed on the trail to the shut-ins. This includes disposable drink containers. Please plan ahead to have a non-disposable, drinking water container with you for your trip.

Due to the unique and rare diversity of life preserved at Prairie State Park, pets are not allowed on park trails. A bison herd of more than 100 head freely graze the park, and this regulation protects both you and your pet. You are welcome to bring your pet to the park’s campground and picnic area, but must follow Missouri State Park’s pet rules, available here. This applies to all types of pets except service animals assisting people with disabilities.
