Camping is permitted on Bee Trace Trail at designated sites only. There are five paddle-in campsites and one backpack camp located on the South Loop.
Backpackers and paddlers must register before starting their trip. Camping is free, but registration is required.
- Fires are allowed only in the fire rings provided at the paddle-in sites – please do not burn trash. Camping stoves are recommended for cooking.
- Cutting implements such as saws and hatchets are not allowed on the trail.
- Checkout time is 2 p.m. on the day of departure.
Overnight parking for hikers is allowed at the Bee Trace trailhead located off of State Highway Ax, along Jupiter Avenue. Trailhead location: 39.82194, -92.51000. For paddlers, overnight parking is allowed at any of the three boat ramp parking lots within the park. The Macon Boat Ramp on the east side of the lake is the closest to the paddle-in campsites.
