Picnic Shelters

The park has three picnic shelters, which can be reserved for $50 per day. The shelters are available for use from sunrise to sunset 365 days per year. None of the shelters have electricity, but restroom facilities and water fountains and spigots are available at each shelter. Water is available during the on-season (April 15 to Oct. 31) only. If not reserved, the shelters are available on a first-come, first served basis.

  • Lake Buteo Shelter - This shelter can accommodate up to 35 people.
    • Due to construction, water is unavailable at the Lake Buteo Shelter until April 15, 2024.
  • WPA Shelter - This shelter can accommodate up to 100 people.
  • Clearfork Shelter - This shelter can accommodate up to 100 people.
Shelter Reservations

If you are interested in reserving one of the park's three open shelters, visit our reservation page, or contact the park to check for availability by calling 660-563-2463.


Playground equipment is available near Clearfork Shelter and next to the campground.

The campground playground is closed until further notice due to construction. 

The Clearfork area playground is open, but visitors should be aware that construction is going on nearby.
