Dozens of individual picnic sites are located throughout the park. Most are situated along the shaded banks of Big River or Coonville Creek, and most are located near restroom and drinking water facilities. Ample parking is provided, and several sites are accessible to persons with disabilities.

Picnic Shelters

Plan your next family reunion, company picnic or other special occasion at St. Francois State Park. Two large picnic shelters may be reserved for $40 each. Both shelters are accessible to people with disabilities. Shelter #1 can accommodate up to 100 people. Shelter #2 can accommodate up to 150 people. Water and electricity are not available. There are vault toilets close to the shelters.

Shelter Reservations

To reserve a shelter, contact the park to check for availability by calling 573-358-2173. If available, fill out the Shelter Reservation Application and mail it to the park for approval. Submission of this application does not guarantee reservation of the shelter. If not reserved, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Five large playgrounds are located in the picnic areas and campgrounds. Swings, slides and sandy play areas are sure to please the youngest visitors.
