Cast your line in the Meramec River or Blue Heron Trail Lake. The word Meramec comes from an Indian word for catfish. Along with catfish, there are bluegill, crappie, drum and smallmouth bass. Gigging for hogsuckers is a popular activity on fall evenings. Fishing licenses are required to fish in both the lake and river.
Fishing licenses and bait are not available at the park. The closest place to purchase a fishing license is located in Bourbon or Cuba, Mo. You can also purchase a license online through the Missouri Department of Conservation.
