1/1/2022 | Weston Bend State Park | Weston, MO
This event has been canceled.
Start the new year off right! Get out to Weston Bend State Park for a guided leisurely hike of approximately 1.5 miles on West Ridge Trail. This walk will go along the unique loess bluff ridgeline, giving sweeping views of the Missouri River. We will talk about the history of Weston Bend State Park as well as the natural geologic features of the bluffs and the park's flora and fauna. So bundle up, strap on your boots, and get curious this New Year's as we explore on this wonderful winter walk!
Be prepared for the weather. Dress warm with hat, scarf and gloves – it is very windy on the bluff! Warm pants and heavy socks are recommended. Wear comfortable hiking shoes that you do not mind getting dirty! Bring along some water, a camera, binoculars and snacks if you wish. Always remember to pack out what you bring in. We ask that you leave your pets at home.
This walk is an easy-to-moderate hike on a natural surface. Hikers may encounter dirt, mud, loose gravel, roots, rocks, uneven terrain, inclines and downed vegetation. This trail is on a bluff and follows a steep drop-off along some sections. The trail is not accessible for wheelchair users.
This event is free and open to all ages. For more information, call the park at 816-640-5443.
