Statehood Day

8/10/2016 | First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site | St. Charles, MO

Come help celebrate Missouri's 195th birthday. Missouri became the 24th state on Aug. 10, 1821. The historic site will host special demonstrations, interpreters in period dress and an open house. The site will host Alice Reese, storyteller, from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to view the buildings where Missouri’s first senators and representatives met from 1821-1826 to go about the business of operating as a new state. The Peck Bros. Dry Goods and Hardware store and residence are also included during the open house and festivities. Bring the kids to learn about Missouri's state symbols and play some games from the 1820s, when Missouri became a state. And, oh yes, what is a birthday party without cake and punch? For more information, please call the site at 636-940-3322.
