6/1/2013 | St. Joe State Park | Park Hills, MO
In celebration of National Trails Day, come out to the park for a naturalist –led, 3.5-mile hike. Part of the hike will pass through the Blankshire oak/pine savanna. This area is routinely burned for the enrichment of this particular natural community, providing habitat for birds, reptiles, insects and wildflowers. Combining paved bicycle path and natural wooded surface, the hike will be steep, rocky and uphill in places. This hike will be suitable for families with school-aged children. Parental discretion is suggested for small children, who may need to be carried. Bring lunch, water and good sturdy shoes - not a trail for sandals or flip flops. Meet at the Blankshire Trail trailhead prior to 10 a.m.
Hike time: 10 a.m. - noon
