This event will highlight many aspects of the Mississippian Period of Native American culture that flourished in the area 1,000 years ago. You will have the opportunity to learn about this mound-building culture, tour the village site, see various prehistoric artifacts from the area, make arrowheads, learn how to make cordage (small rope) from native plants, test their aim and skill with an atlatl and longbow, hear storytelling from actor, educator and Osage tribal member Larry Sellers of the TV show Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, plus much more. This event is open to all ages and is a great opportunity for the whole family to learn more about the lives of the Mississippian mound-building culture that inhabited the region.
