Come out to to the historic site on Saturday, Oct. 18, for Historical Haunts at the Homestead!
The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a storytelling program at the picnic shelter. Join presenter Robert Daniels to be transported to an era when stories were passed down by families through generations. Themes may include folklore, Southern tall tales, ghost stories, historical stories and childhood experiences.
Starting around 7 p.m., staff will lead a series of short night hikes from the shelter through the woods to the Boone house. From there, guests can follow the lantern-lit walkway to the historic cemeteries for more tales of the past. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to experience Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site at night!
This event is free, open to the public, and suitable for all ages. All activities will take place outdoors, so be sure to dress for the weather and bring a flashlight. Provided seating for the storytelling program is limited, so you may want to bring your own.
