Join representatives from Missouri State Parks, Edward Jones and Westminster College on Saturday, April 27, to take part in Katy Trail's Founders Day. Founders Day celebrates the anniversary of the trail's opening in 1990 and commemorates the enduring partnership between the trail and Edward Jones. Completion of the 240-mile rail-trail was funded largely in part by a donation from Edward D. “Ted” Jones and his wife, Pat. The Katy Trail's partnership with Jones’ company has outlived Ted and Pat, and their legacy continues as we honor the Joneses and this partnership with a series of events on April 27.
Events will be hosted at three locations along the Katy Trail, and around the Pleasant Hill Trailhead of the Rock Island Trail. Volunteers from the public are encouraged to join the Missouri State Parks team, Edward Jones employees, and Westminster College staff and students for tree plantings, trail cleanups and invasive species removal at each event.

Pleasant Hill
Volunteers, Edward Jones employees and Missouri State Parks team members will gather to tackle the removal of invasive honeysuckle, helping to restore native habitats along a section of the Rock Island Trail.
- 9 a.m. – check-in at the Pleasant Hill Trailhead
- 9:30 a.m. – remarks
- 10 a.m. to noon – honeysuckle hack and invasive plant removal
Boonville
Volunteers, Edward Jones employees and Missouri State Parks team members and volunteers will come together to clean up and maintain the Katy Trail through Boonville.
- 9 a.m. – check-in at the Rivers, Rails & Trails Museum
- 9:30 a.m. – remarks
- 10 a.m. to noon – trail cleanup
Tebbetts
In coordination with Westminster College
- 9 a.m. – check-in at the Tebbetts Trailhead
- 9:30 a.m. – remarks
- 10 a.m. to noon – tree planting
Augusta
- 9 a.m. – check-in at the Augusta Trailhead
- 9:30 am – remarks
- 10 a.m. to noon – honeysuckle hack and invasive plant removal
