Track Chair Program

at Missouri State Parks

person driving track chair outdoors Missouri State Parks strives to provide accessible outdoor recreation for all. Track chairs are electronic off-road chairs that allow visitors with limited mobility the opportunity to explore designated routes throughout select state parks and historic sites. These chairs can help visitors access areas that may not be suitable for traditional wheelchairs. Missouri State Parks currently has six track chairs in place across the state.

Track chairs can be reserved two days in advance, free of charge. The chairs are available to anyone with a mobility need. People less than 18 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian while using the chair. Facility staff are not available to help with transfer to or from the chair. If you require special accommodation for transfer into the track chair, you must provide someone who has the ability to assist in the transfer process. Due to battery life, the chair can be reserved for no more than two hours at a time.

Before using the chair, the user must complete the Track Chair Program User Agreement.

The track chair is available for use at the following facilities:

Riding Tips

An enjoyable experience outdoors begins with safety. The following guidelines must be followed at all times:

  • Always ride within your abilities.

  • Remember to share the path or trail by giving nonmotorized users the right of way.
  • Stay on designated trails and paths, as riding off-trail or outside the designated area can damage resources.
  • Pack it in, pack it out.
  • Consider bringing a water bottle, insect repellent, sunscreen and snacks.
  • Check the weather forecast before leaving. Recent precipitation could impact your reservation.
  • Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent, guardian or ward with them.
